Learning With Purpose in Our Junior Primary

There was great excitement in Year 1 as the boys arrived at school with their bicycles for our much-anticipated Bike and Ice Cream Day. 

It was a wonderful way to celebrate the learning that had taken place in our phonics lessons as we explored the long ‘I’ sound recently. 

Boys spent part of the morning riding and were able to "buy" their ice cream treat by completing a fun phonics-based challenge. This playful approach showed that learning can happen anywhere and that hard work deserves to be celebrated. 

At this stage of Year 1, our boys have come so far in their phonics journey and are well on their way to becoming enthusiastic readers and writers.
